I was thinking recently about how I missed my blogger days so I thought I would scratch my blogger itch with a Look of the Day (lotd) post! I made a SL life choice recently and gave up my Maitreya Lara for a Sking Katena. Why? I am all about the curvy life. Sure I got my Lara pretty damn curvy, but my man and I prefer a bit MORE. So once Sking came out with the preggo belly I chose to make the leap. As a former SL model used to being able to wear pretty much anything, I was concerned about being limited in my selections. I mean I chose to wear a Lara because pretty much everyone makes for Lara, and so long as my curves didn't break the mesh, I could wear whatever I liked.
I have been wearing the Sking Katena pretty solidly since December 2019. I have been pretty pleased with myself and the looks I have been able to pull together. Not only are there a fair amount of good meshes for Sking, the fact that it is BOM has made system layers invaluable. I have really enjoyed digging through my inventory for older items I could never bring myself to delete because I paid good Ls for them! I am really enjoying the resurgence of system layers. It really is making styling a non-traditional body fun.
I also have to say that living my SL in a Sking is intentional for another reason. I am trying to unfuck my brain. We all know the messaging...skinny is sexy, fat is gross. Sure we don't all subscribe to that (or have succumbed to that messaging), but I am trying very hard to embrace big is beautiful, because it is - in both RL and SL.
It is my hope by taking simple snaps of my plus-sized styling that more people will see that big is beautiful too.
